In the childhood of the engineered airplane in the early 1900s, engines or propellers had not yet been developed that were powerful enough to carry the weight of the aircraft for a longer period of time. Therefore, it was considered to construct so-called biplane or two-deck aircraft. Especially during the First World War, this type of aircraft showed its worth, not least because it was easy to maneuver, but already in the 1920s it was literally overtaken inside, as the development of new and stronger engines soon made the extra wing layer redundant. However, the toddler is still used, for example.
